Hiking
Discover the beauty of Vumba with a trail run, hike, or nature walk – over 1000 species of fynbos and an abundance of birds, wildlife, rivers, and waterfalls can be found here, making the cottage the ultimate base for outdoorsy travelers. Guests are welcome to enjoy walking
the trail near the cottage, where you’ll see as far as Mozambique and its surroundings from the top.
Skywalk and Zipline at Mutarazi Falls
The Eastern Highlands have the greatest number of waterfalls in Zimbabwe. Vumba has a couple of waterfalls you can also chase and experience; Mutarazi Falls, Chinamata Falls, Nyangombe Falls.
The Castle Beacon
The Castle Beacon is the highest point in the Vumba Mountains, rising to an elevation of 1911 metres. You can get there by hiking; just bring some snacks and some water with you. From the peak you will have a typical panoramic view of the valleys, lowlands, Mutare and Mozambique. It’s simply breathtaking!
Vumba Botanical Gardens
In the tranquil landscaped gardens at Vumba Botanical Gardens, discover a plethora of flora and fauna and indigenous forest. The area is a perfect spot to have a picnic.
Prince of Wales Viewpoint
It provides a bird’s-eye view of the Forbes Border Post as well as an aerial view of the border villages. Views will span from the spectacular Christmas Pass mountains down to Machipanda, Mozambique.
